Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh
Friday 29 - Sunday 31 May 2015
Every year the Fruitmarket Gallery hosts an incredible makers market called the DesignMarket. Before the BIG summer exhibition they turn their beautiful Edinburgh gallery into a huge retail space full of incredible designers, jewellers, ceramicists, illustrators, weavers... you get the picture. Well - I was lucky enough to be included!
Held at the end of May, the event runs over three days, with a launch on the Friday night including drinks and merriment.
As always, my good friends from Hill Street Design House were there in support and snapped a few good pics, including this one which includes some of the residents who are based in their studio (Zyzanna & Workhorse Press). They even wrote a blog piece about the weekend too, you can read more here.
This year the Fruitmarket Gallery teamed up with Creative Edinburgh and Edinburgh Contemporary Crafts (Process Studios) to offer talks, workshops and demonstrations.
Creative Edinburgh held a series of "Tales of the Trade" talks on both the Saturday and Sunday afternoons. I was asked by the lovely Janine Matheson and Sean Scott to give a talk on the Sunday afternoon, discussing the topic "Brand You". Here I am with the other speaker Jaco Justice (and no we didn't plan our matching outfits...)
All in all it was a really fantastic weekend. I made lots of new friends, chatted to some really interested and interesting customers and even managed to score my first retail stockist! But more about that in the next blog post.
Peace & love,
