2 Ingredient DIY Coffee Scrub
Stuck inside and looking for an easy way to give your skin a treat?
I love a bit of good exfoliation, I mean who doesn’t want silky soft skin amiright?
There are lots of fantastic natural body scrubs out there, but it’s also really simple to whip one up at home and with this recipe it’s making use of something you’d have just thrown away; so not only is it good for your skin, it’s also good for the environment
This scrub is SO simple and it contains just TWO ingredients! Coffee + Olive Oil
Instead of throwing your coffee grounds away once you’ve had your fill, whip up this easy peasy scrub.
The coffee grounds have a lovely gritty texture and really help to slough off rough, flaky skin and smooth dry patches
INGREDIENTS:
-
Coffee grounds | approx 30gm
-
Olive Oil | approx 20gm / 4 tablespoons
TIME TO MAKE:
-
5 minutes + over night drying
HOW TO:
-
Drink Coffee * wink *
-
Once you’re done with your pot of coffee, drain as much liquid as possible out and scoop the grounds into a bowl
-
This is where you’re going to have to be a little bit patient… you need to let the grounds dry out completely - overnight should be plenty. You’ll know when they’re ready as they resemble, umm, dry coffee… try spreading them out in a low bowl or plate so lots of air can get to them - give it a bit of a stir every time you pass to help move things along
-
Measure approx 4 tablespoons of olive oil into dry coffee (per 30 grams of coffee)
-
You’re looking for the consistency of wet sand / or sort of what the coffee looked like when you first scooped it out of the pot
-
Transfer to a jar
-
Scrub all over your body to slough away dead, dry & flaky skin.
HOW LONG WILL I LAST:
-
Firstly, make sure to keep water out of your scrub - so apply with dry hands if possible
-
You should have enough to do a full body scrub 2-3 times
-
Use up within the week
You shouldn’t need to moisturise after either; the olive oil will leave a dewy film over your skin
